About Stairway
Stairway helps Moroccan students access universities around the world through personalized guidance, academic preparation, and university application support.
We are looking for someone with exceptional English writing and editing skills who genuinely enjoys working with students and helping them express their ideas clearly, authentically, and effectively.
As an English Writing & Editing Coach, you will work closely with students on the written components of their university applications, particularly personal statements, supplemental essays, activity descriptions, and other application materials.
You do not need previous university admissions experience. We will train you on the application process and the different university systems we work with.
What matters most is that you are an excellent writer and editor, a thoughtful communicator, highly organized, and genuinely interested in helping students improve their writing.
Main Responsibilities
University Application Essays
• Work closely with students on their personal statements and supplemental university essays.
• Help students brainstorm strong ideas and identify meaningful topics based on their experiences, goals, and personality.
• Provide detailed feedback on content, structure, storytelling, clarity, and written English.
• Help students strengthen and refine their essays through multiple rounds of revisions.
• Make sure each essay remains authentic to the student's own ideas, experiences, and voice.
• Help students understand essay prompts and ensure their responses answer them effectively.
Writing & Editing
• Review and improve activity descriptions, short answers, additional information sections, and other written application materials.
• Identify unclear, repetitive, weak, or ineffective writing and provide constructive feedback.
• Help students improve sentence structure, vocabulary, flow, organization, and overall written quality.
• Review written materials for consistency, clarity, and completeness before submission.
Student Guidance & Follow-Up
• Meet regularly with students to discuss their writing and progress.
• Give clear, constructive, and actionable feedback.
• Help students stay on schedule with drafts, revisions, and application deadlines.
• Adapt your approach to students with different personalities, writing levels, and academic backgrounds.
• Build strong relationships with students and create an environment where they feel comfortable developing and improving their ideas.
University Applications
If you are interested, you will also have the opportunity to learn and progressively support other parts of the university application process, such as:
• Researching universities and helping students build their university lists
• Helping students complete application forms and online platforms
• Meeting with new students and helping them understand the application process
• Following up with students on documents, tasks, and upcoming deadlines
• Checking applications for missing information or inconsistencies before submission
Previous university admissions experience is a plus, but not required.
