Role Description The Manager – Underwriting & Marketing is a full-time, on-site position based in Casablanca-Settat, Morocco. This role is responsible for leading underwriting activities for reinsurance business, including risk assessment, pricing, and portfolio management across assigned markets and lines of business. The manager oversees the evaluation of submissions, negotiation of treaty and facultative terms, and ensures compliance with internal guidelines and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and executing marketing strategies to expand Africa Re’s client base, strengthening relationships with cedants and brokers, and promoting the corporation’s products and solutions. The role also involves monitoring market trends, preparing business development plans, contributing to budgeting and reporting, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support profitable growth and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
• Strong underwriting expertise with skills in Underwriting and Insurance, preferably in reinsurance or related markets.
• Solid financial and technical background with skills in Finance and Analytical Skills for risk evaluation, pricing, and portfolio analysis.
• Exposure to Mortgage Underwriting or similar structured risk underwriting is an advantage.
• Relevant university degree in Insurance, Finance, Business, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CII, CPCU) are beneficial.
• Proven experience in underwriting management and client-facing roles, including marketing or business development within the insurance or reinsurance sector.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
• Proficiency in English and French; additional languages used in Africa or the MENA region are an asset.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to make sound decisions under time constraints.
