The essentials of the job
ÖBB-Technische Services is recruiting in Vienna a senior specialist in predictive maintenance and IoT for its rail vehicles. The role combines rail technical expertise, IoT systems and data science.
Your area of responsibility
You shape the data-driven maintenance of our
rail vehicles with a clear focus on
Condition-Based Monitoring
(CBM)
and
Predictive Maintenance (PdM)
.
You are part of an interdisciplinary team of
Data
Scientists (m/f/x)
and
domain experts in vehicle technology
. Together you develop
data-based models and transfer them into robust applications in
operational operations.
In doing so, you operate at the interface between
vehicle technology,
IoT systems and Data Science
and ensure that
data science models
are technically sensible, practically usable and
sustainably operable
.
The necessary data infrastructure and
platforms are provided by central IT and Data Engineering units,
with which you work closely.
Your job
You
take on a
central technical role in a data-driven
CBM team
and work closely with Data Scientists (m/f/x) on the development of
machine learning models for condition monitoring and condition forecasting.
You
ensure that data science models
work realistically
in the
vehicle context
and actively contribute domain knowledge to
modelling, feature engineering and evaluation.
You
are responsible for the
transfer of models into productive applications
:
from data connection through integration into IoT systems to deployment, monitoring and continuous further development (MLOps – in
coordination with IT/Data Engineering).
You
analyse operational, diagnostic and sensor data and work in a targeted way
to
replace rule-based maintenance approaches with model-based
methods
.
You
translate requirements from vehicle technology into
precise
data science problem statements
and ensure that
model decisions are traceable and reliable in operation.
You
work closely with central IT and Data Engineering teams to
ensure scalable
and stable data pipelines and platform solutions
.
You
shape technical standards for data-driven maintenance –
particularly with regard to
model integration, data quality and
system behaviour in the field.
Your profile
We look forward to
getting to know you if you have a completed technical-academic education
in the field of electrical engineering,
telecommunications engineering, computer science, mathematics, at a university/university of applied sciences or a technically comparable HTL qualification or a master craftsman school with several years
of industry-specific professional experience.
In addition, you bring a high level of understanding of
rail vehicles,
diagnostic systems as well as IoT and communication architectures
.
Solid
interest or experience in:
time series analysis
and signal processing, machine
learning and statistical methods
, evaluation
of model quality in an industrial context.
You have experience with Python (e.g. pandas,
scikit-learn), data-processing
systems (e.g. Spark/MLFlow an advantage), integration
of technical systems and data streams.
You enjoy working in an interdisciplinary way in a
team with Data Scientists (m/f/x) and Data Engineers (m/f/x) and take pleasure in
understanding the work
in terms of content, challenging it
and transferring it into technical reality
.
Experience
in collaboration with
IT and platform teams
is an advantage.
A structured, independent and
solution-oriented way of working distinguishes you as well as pronounced
analytical skills and a high level of problem-solving competence. Even in
dynamic project situations, you keep an overview and make well-founded
decisions.
Your communication skills enable you to
work in a targeted manner
with both technical specialist teams and operationally oriented target groups.
Our offer
For the function "Senior Specialist
Vehicle Technology-Rail", according to the collective agreement for employees of Austrian
railway companies, a minimum salary of € 55,307 gross/year is envisaged for an
employment extent of 38.5 hours per week. Depending on
qualification and professional experience, an overpayment is possible.
You can expect a highly
relevant topic area at the interface of
engineering, Data
Science and operations;
an
environment in which Data Science
is not used in isolation
, but as an integral
part of technical systems; close
collaboration with central IT and platform units for scaling
data-driven solutions and a role with direct influence on the
reliability and availability of
rail vehicles.
An attractive flexitime model as well as the
possibility of telework ensure that you can
actively shape your work-life balance.
