Career Day all about the locomotive in Innsbruck
Start your training in 2027 as a:shunting locomotive driver:in. Do you have a great interest in operating locomotives, preparing them for our universal locomotive drivers and checking them against all safety regulations? Then you have come to the right place!
Your tasks - exciting and varied:
Everyday work includes preparing locomotives in compliance with the rules, checking them and carrying out shunting and transfer runs. Noticeable damage is reported independently.
You take over trains and then stables them properly at the depot – you always keep an overview and work in close exchange with other colleagues.
In a thorough training course lasting several months, you will be carefully prepared for your future role – with plenty of practical experience and personal support.
During the training, you gain valuable driving experience – both on the modern ÖBB simulator and in real railway operations.
Upon completion of the training, you receive the class A4 locomotive driver's licence including shunting management.
What you bring - our expectations:
You have completed a (vocational) training and will reach the minimum age of 19 at the start of the course.
You have already completed military or civilian service or you are exempt from it.
Very good German language skills in speech and writing enable safe, friendly and professional communication with passengers and colleagues.
Physical fitness as well as good vision and hearing are required.
Changing working hours in shift work (including night, weekend and public holiday duty) can be well reconciled with your own everyday life and environment.
What we offer you - a convincing package:
Training that combines technology, responsibility and teamwork – while offering room for personal development.
High-quality but
significantly shorter training (approx. 28 weeks)
than for a:universal locomotive driver:in.
The start of a long-term career as a locomotive driver:in – with development opportunities for higher classes or additional locomotive types.
Experienced professionals and career changers are also very welcome: technical understanding and enjoyment of responsibility count more than previous job titles.
For the role of "shunting locomotive driver:in, junior talent", a minimum salary of € 38,351.88 gross/year is envisaged.
