As a Senior Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in expanding our client's renewable energy activities in Morocco by identifying industrial electricity buyers and securing long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
Based in Casablanca, you will manage commercial development across Casablanca-Settat, Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and Fès-Meknès.
Your Main Responsibilities
• Identify and develop business opportunities with major industrial electricity consumers.
• Build strategic relationships with industrial groups, CFOs, plant directors and energy procurement managers.
• Originate, negotiate and close long-term Power Purchase Agreements and solar self-consumption contracts.
• Analyse industrial electricity consumption, tariff structures and potential energy cost savings.
• Prepare commercial proposals in collaboration with engineering, finance, legal and strategy teams.
• Negotiate pricing, contractual conditions, electricity offtake commitments and credit guarantees.
• Manage the complete sales cycle, from prospecting to contract signature and project handover.
• Maintain an accurate CRM pipeline, commercial forecasts and regular management reporting.
• Monitor market developments, competitor activities and new commercial opportunities.
• Maintain customer relationships throughout project development until commercial operation.
Commercial Objectives
• Secure 80 MW of signed PPAs within six months.
• Reach 150 MW of cumulative signed agreements within twelve months.
• Support the commercial closing of two priority solar pilot projects.
• Maintain a qualified commercial pipeline representing at least three times the outstanding target.
The position offers significant commercial autonomy and direct involvement in major renewable energy infrastructure projects, working closely with local management and international technical and financial teams.
Approximately 50% domestic travel is expected, with occasional international travel to Shanghai.
Profil Recherché
We are looking for an experienced, results-driven Business Development professional with strong knowledge of Morocco's industrial energy market and a proven ability to negotiate and close complex energy agreements.
Required Qualifications And Experience
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Energy, Business, Economics, Finance or a related field.
• 6–12 years of professional experience in industrial energy sales, renewable energy business development or Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) origination in Morocco.
• Proven track record of successfully negotiated and signed energy agreements.
• Established network of industrial electricity buyers in at least two of Morocco's target regions: Casablanca-Settat, Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and Fès-Meknès.
• Strong understanding of Moroccan medium-voltage electricity tariffs, industrial consumption profiles and energy cost-saving calculations.
• Working knowledge of Moroccan electricity regulations, particularly Laws 13-09 and 82-21, and applicable ANRE network-access conditions.
• Experience negotiating long-term energy contracts, including pricing, indexation, offtake commitments, credit guarantees and contractual risk allocation.
• Understanding of counterparty creditworthiness and the financial requirements of bankable energy agreements.
• Technical familiarity with electricity load profiles, grid connections, metering and solar self-consumption projects.
• Strong CRM management, sales forecasting and commercial reporting skills.
• Fluent French and English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
• Proficiency in Moroccan Arabic.
• Mandarin Chinese language skills.
• Previous experience with commercial and industrial solar developers or energy service companies.
• Experience with solar self-consumption agreements, leasing or Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) structures.
• Established relationships with ONEE or regional electricity distribution companies.
Personal Competencies
The ideal candidate is a genuine deal closer: commercially sharp, persistent, autonomous and capable of managing complex negotiations with senior industrial decision-makers.
Strong communication skills, financial awareness, structured pipeline management and the ability to work independently across multiple regions are essential.
Professional integrity, sound commercial judgment and strict adherence to compliance and anti-corruption standards are mandatory.
